Jak zabezpieczyć się przed awarią instalacji elektrycznej?

Even short-lived power outages can cause serious problems - both in the context of work and private life. What can be done so that installation failures do not disorganize our lives ever again? You'll find out if you take a look at our guide.

Power outages - is it even worth thinking about?

Power outages happen regularly. Their causes are various - not only various types of electrical system failures, maintenance work, but also external factors, such as, for example, strong winds or precipitation. Due to such a number of factors, we are not always able to predict when such a power outage will occur and prepare for it accordingly. Regardless of the reason for such a situation, the effect is always the same: total destabilization of functioning, or at least considerable and perceptible discomfort. Even an interruption of a dozen or a few tens of minutes can have deplorable consequences: it resets the settings of devices important to us, makes us lose important data we are working on on the computer, prevents us from completing all sorts of tasks and makes it difficult for us to move around our own apartment, causing a sense of danger. In the perspective of a few or even several hours without electricity, we can already talk about such consequences as the lack of heating, hot water or the need to throw food out of the refrigerator and freezer. Is it possible to minimize the problems associated with power outages? While we may not always be able to avoid trouble, it's worthwhile to prepare accordingly, equipping your office, garage, workshop or, finally, your apartment with devices and accessories that will help you in a power outage situation. This is especially important in autumn and winter, when short days and the prevailing darkness outside the windows significantly limit our room for maneuver. So instead of convincing yourself that hours without electricity can be romantic, you'd better properly prepare yourself in case of another electrical outage!

How to protect yourself in case of a possible power failure?

How to prepare for power failures and outages? First of all, it's a good idea to develop a plan of action in case the electricity goes out at those moments when you need it most, such as after darkness falls. It's a good idea to have a flashlight, spare batteries, candles and matches on hand in an established place. Be sure to also warn your household members what to do in the event of a sudden power outage: check whether the problem affects only our apartment or a larger area (block, street). Report an emergency to the nationwide number 991 or to the relevant energy distributor (it is advisable to write down the number beforehand in an easily accessible place, in case your phone is disconnected or your modem connecting you to the Internet is switched off). On your own, you can always check the fuses, if no one in the house has experience in dealing with such situations or there is a likelihood of more serious damage to the installation, it is necessary to call a professional.

How else to prepare for a power failure? You can consider emergency power supply for home or office equipment (especially computers) with UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems, powered by a battery, usually built-in. What else? Complete independence in the event of a long-term failure will be ensured by a properly tailored power generator, to which you can connect everything from a washing machine and gas stove to a computer. If you don't know which one to choose, be sure to read on.

Which generator set is worth choosing? Some tips that may be useful to you

As you can see, buying a generator is a very good idea, considering all the inconveniences that are associated with electrical system failures or power outages due to maintenance. Which device should you choose? We recommend, first of all, to invest in a diesel generator, which, although relatively more expensive than a gasoline one, in the final analysis is by far the economically preferable option: it burns as much as twice as much fuel! It is worth considering what type of genset to choose: stationary or portable. For residential gensets, it is certainly worth choosing the latter option - a lightweight and conveniently portable model on wheels, not taking up too much space. What about the power of the emergency power device? If you want it to power the central heating furnace, circulating pumps, refrigerator or monitoring, it is worth choosing a diesel generator, the power of which is about 20-30% more than the total power of the devices you want to power with it. Usually the optimal choice is a 2-3 kW genset - you will find quite a lot of such devices in our online store. An important note: residential generators should be equipped with AVR (or automatic voltage regulation) technology, which prevents voltage spikes or dips that can damage sensitive electronics. If you are still hesitating about which generator model to choose, rely on our staff, who will help you choose the right device by email or hotline.

There are several methods to cope with a power outage. One of them is to invest in the right diesel generator, tailored to the place and individual expectations, which is a convenient, safe, extremely quiet and economical solution. If you want to choose a model that will work for your business premises or apartment, be sure to take a look at our website with many variants of diesel generators, differing in construction, additional features or engine power, among other things.

If a generator set, then only with AVR

As a manufacturer and distributor of generators, we offer devices equipped only with high-end voltage regulators. We know how important for you is the safety of consumers powered by the generator. AVR guarantees stable operation of electronic devices and their protection from damage. Failure of a heat pump, computer or other equipment is not only a considerable cost, but also a risk of data loss. That's why every Proton generator has a suitable AVR voltage regulator.
